Swokapmund – Soussusvlei Desert Lodge

Once again we are going on the road and today’s a travelling day between Swakopmund and our next and final destination the Soussuvlei Desert Lodge at Soussuvlei. To get to the lodge we will be travelling a distance of about 350 kilometres, with all but 37 kilometres of it gravel. For us we manage a pretty early get away, we’ve packed the car, had breakfast, gassed up, checked the tire pressures and it’s only 9am! This is almost a record.

Alas my cold has developed into something more intense and it feels very much like a bronchial infection. I’m going to drive for the first hour and a half, take some cold tablets, and then let Kelly take over while the tablets knock me out.

Swokapmund – Day 2

We were looking for a bit of a sleep in today, but the Primary School opposite seemed to start filling up at about 7am and then they announced classes were starting with a loud whistle about 7:30am. Even still we managed to go back to sleep and didn’t get up until after 8am. Ah the luxuries of town living, not having to shower outside!

Mowani to Swakopmund

 It’s a busy day today as we are booked in for an early morning nature drive this morning with Moses, Ben-onie’s brother and in the afternoon we will be leaving Mowani and driving to the coast and Swakopmund.

I’d set the iphone alarm to 6:25 which gives us 5 minutes warning before they come knocking. As the drive doesn’t get back until after checkout we will have to have everything packed up and ready to be picked up before we go on the drive. The alarm goes off and it’s straight out of bed and outside for a shower. Hmm it’s definitely a bit cooler this morning than yesterday and I can really notice the chill after a really warm shower.
