Morgan’s Lookout
Morgan’s lookout is a white granite outcrop; due to its elevation, this local geological feature was used by the bushranger Dan "Mad Dog" Morgan as a lookout for police parties. Local folklore tells of Morgan hiding his horses in deep crevices within the rocks when the police came nearby.
Pulau Ubin - Singapore
Pulau Ubin is a small island situated in the north east of Singapore and it's one of the last rural areas to be found in Singapore, with an abundance of natural flora and fauna. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulau_Ubin
Kelly and I had decided at the last minute to leave a bit earlier on our holiday and catch the Grand Prix in Singapore. We had worked with Mark Webber for a number of years on his racing and challenge websites but we had never seen him actually race. About a week before we left I received an email from an old colleque who I hadn't seen for years, Malcolm Young, who said if we were ever in Singapore to say hi. Much to my surprise and delight when I called him and told him that we were coming for the race he told me that Joe Garari, another old and dear friend was flying in from Chanai in India for the race too. So here we all are on our first day of our first major holiday in 15 years hanging out at the First Stop restaurant, drinking fresh lime juice and eating some of the best seafood you can imagine.
Đảo Quan Lạn - Vietnam
Quan Lan Island belongs to Bái Tu Long Bay; part of an island range on the outside of the gulf of Bac Bo. It has an area of 11 sq. km, and features eight populated hamlets. View in Google Maps.
We had chartered a private junk from a fantastic company, IndoChina Junk, for a 4 day trip from Halong Bay to Bái Tu Long Bay but never imagined we would end up here. This is what we woke up to on the second morning of our trip, we followed it up by an incredible bike ride through the island to the Quan Lan beach and a dip in the South China Sea. The view is from the top deck where we had all of our meals.
