Day #9 - African Adventure

Cape Town to Johannesburg

Going to be a bit of a quiet day and a short blog today as it’s a travel day. We have to be back in Johannesburg to catch our flight to Ulusaba tomorrow morning at 9:15am.

So after breakfast we packed up all our gear, went out for a last walk down Kloof Street to visit a couple of the galleries and pick up some wasabi chips that we had discovered for sale a few days earlier in a local shop.

After checking in we realised that they had us in different seats on the plane and after seeing if we could change them they said the flight was overbooked and it wouldn’t be possible to sit together. I kept an eye out and noticed that no one took the seat next to Kelly, so as soon as they closed the doors I swapped seats next to her. Fortunate really because there was the largest lady sitting next to me in my original seat, I think we were both very happy that I could move. The flight was relatively short only 1 hour 40 minutes.

Once we'd collected our bags we walked out of the airport and straight into the Intercontinental where we are staying for the night. We had stayed at Intercontinental Hotels in both Hanoi and Hong Kong and I was already a Priority Member but I upped that to Ambassador before we left Australia. Amongst other things that guarantees us an upgrade and we got a great junior suite this time.

As the plane tomorrow is a small 4 seater single engine affair we are restricted to 20kilos per person, so we spent a couple of hours packing, weighing, repacking to get our bags down to that amount. We will have to leave one of our bags in storage at the airport and pick it up when we get back.

Well that's it for today, Ulusaba tomorrow.
